[Thursday, 5th June 2025] the Daystar University community gathered at Main Campus Athi River and Nairobi Campus for a day of prayer to commit the May Trimester to God. Both students and staff were in attendance.
At the Athi River Campus, the guest speaker was Rev. Edward Wafula, the Overseer of Discipleship Chapel in Tassia, Nairobi. He urged the congregation to glorify God in the positions bestowed on them, by going the extra mile while carrying out their daily duties.
“God wants us to accomplish a lot by stepping out of our comfort zone”, remarked Rev. Wafula, further stating that work is a highway to success.
The preacher encouraged the Daystar community to be prayerful as work and prayer go hand in hand. He also urged the community to live their faith and embrace work with open hearts as if working for the Lord.
Quoting Proverbs 3:5” Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding”, Rev. Wafula emphasized the importance of depending on God’s wisdom and guidance.
At the Nairobi Campus, the Head of Digital Ministries in CITAM, Rev. Kwame Rubadiri expounded on the topic, Work and Prayer, centering his message on the Trimester theme of Working together. Saying that most people associate work with play, he cautioned that people should ground their work in prayer.
Rev. Rubadiri further encouraged the audience to view work as part of God’s creation, designed to model people as faithful stewards of God’s creation on earth. He urged the congregation to always strive to make a difference when doing God’s work.
“When you have an opportunity to work for God, you should make a difference,” said Rev. Rubadiri, further urging the congregation to shun laziness and be diligent.
At both campuses, the congregations took time to pray for various issues touching the University, Management, students and staff. Some of the prayer points included:
- Prayer for faculty Staff and students
- Prayer for university leadership including the Management Board and Senate.
- Completion of ongoing university projects including David Musau Mumama Learning Complex, the perimeter wall, Faye Smith Hostels and establishment of the School of Medicine, among others.
The services ended with observing the Lords table, a significant ordinance for Christians that recognizes the work of redemption Jesus accomplished on the Cross, and declaration of his Lordship in Daystar University.
Truly, the prayer day was a resounding success that reaffirmed the University’s commitment to nurturing a holistic community through spiritual nourishment and academic excellence.
